It was 1982 in Spain and four brothers had a vision – to create beautiful furniture environment that would be perfect for sybaritic, lazy afternoons lounging on a sofa in the sun; or for evenings enjoying tapas and Huevos rotos under the stars. LaForma was born and has since grown into an international industry leader in furniture and home decor, offering an extensive range of home furnishings and interior design accessories.
Australia is a unique match for LaForma’s relaxed aesthetic, with its fluid indoor-outdoor living and relaxed approach. With our sunny and temperate conditions reflecting the climate of Barcelona, LaForma has gone from strength to strength since launching on Antipodean shores in 2012. Their exceptional service and contemporary design has seen them become firmly entrenched in the market. Sara Hall from LaForma describes ‘Barcelona Living’ as:
‘Celebrating a modern urban lifestyle with family and friends, sharing food and drink, enjoying outdoor spaces and creating an environment to build treasured memories.’
Australian homes may also emphasise outdoor living but there is diversity in their design approach – which is why LaForma offer an eclectic range that give designers the ability to create varying spaces with interest and style.
“We believe that it’s all in the details. We incorporate a variety of materials and textures – including natural timbers, quilted fabric and stitching features, rope and ceramics – that make people want to touch, feel, connect to and fall in love with our pieces”, says Sara.
LaForma has an in-house design team based in Barcelona who have strong conceptual noses for how furniture should look. They do extensive research and development before embarking on the design process. The overarching philosophy of LaForma is to produce exceptionally designed products which are still accessible to the wider market.
One of the keys to their success is exploring new technologies and materials; having the confidence to experiment with processes while ensuring quality through compliance to standards at every stage.
The current ‘Made in Spain’ collection is an excellent example of LaForma’s commitment to contemporary design, allied with quality, particularly the ‘Kopa’ and ‘Lobby’ accent chairs which have proved a hit with clients.
LaForma will be hosting a large exhibition at this year’s Australian International Furniture Fair and Decor + Design show in Melbourne and will be introducing new designs from the ‘Made in Spain’ collections, including the stunning ‘Vinny’ sofas and ‘Fyna’ armchairs. Composed of beautifully rich and layered fabrics with depth, the collection is a paean to luxury living.
With several colour options and accent stitching/piping details, the Barcelona Collection offers timeless design that enhances any room.
LaForma are looking forward to showing at the Australian International Furniture Fair, which is co-located with Decor + Design and together form Australia’s No.1 Interiors Event and last year had 11,000+ trade visitors over its four days at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
“We have so many new pieces to unveil at the show this year, we can’t wait to share! We are expanding our dining and lounge ranges with many exciting pieces, focusing as always on beautiful design details, gorgeous fabrics and clever, innovative design”, says Sara.
“We are really excited to be expanding our outdoor and alfresco ranges just in time for another perfect Australian Summer”.
“It’s such a privilege for us to be part of Decor + Design and the Australian International Furniture Fair. For us, this show is a highlight of the year – we love nothing more than being able to share our LaForma passion with the people. It’s such a buzzing and engaging environment of like minds coming together to share a love of design – what better way to connect and show off our latest designs?”
LaForma will be at Stand M20 of AIFF. Register now as a trade visitor (entry to both exhibitions is free) and check out the program for the International Seminar Series, which will feature design thought leaders from the world of design, including Tim Street-Porter, Sibella Court, David Hicks, Anna Spiro and Mr Jason Grant.
