Melbourne-based brand Warwick Fabrics has seen a lot of change in the fifty-five years they’ve been in business; perhaps none so much as in the past year! However Managing Director Cam Warwick says they’ve found a renewed mobility.

“As a company, we’re now business as NEW normal,” says Cam Warwick. “Where we found flexibility in the COVID scenario, we have carried this through into a new business model. Our staff have more flexibility around work/life balance. It’s proved to us that we can still function under the most difficult conditions, adapting to our environment and the needs of our staff and customers.”

“Our overseas offices and suppliers are daily reminders that we are incredibly lucky to be in Australia right now. Although there are new daily challenges, there are a lot of countries having to navigate conditions far worse than ours, sometimes a reminder to be grateful for what we can achieve, even if at times we feel like one hand is tied behind our back, it gives us a moment to pause and look at the bigger picture.”

Warwick Fabrics is well established within the Australian textile industry, offering over 6000 fabrics from commercial, residential, drapery, medical grade, and outdoor. Their products are constantly updated and push boundaries as trends, needs and technology change.

“We have grown and adapted from when Dad first started the company with a velvet and vinyl line, which was very on trend for the 60s! We take the legacy and trust of the Warwick brand very seriously and always strive to fulfill a promise of innovation, quality, and service,” says Cam Warwick.

Beautifully Crafted Fabrics

Linia is Warwick’s premium fabric range that includes upholstery and now drapery qualities. Working closely with the world’s best mills, Warwick have crafted a range of premium blends that boast effortless style and sophistication. Linia complements Warwick’s existing Thomas Maxwell brand of Italian leathers, so together, Linia offers a complete selection of organic colours, textures and finishes for those searching for a boutique solution.

Weave diversifies Warwick’s product range with a compilation of artisanal cushions, textured throws and timeless rugs, giving their clients options to dress their furniture pieces with seasonal releases of soft homeware accessories. Timeless design inspired by beloved places is a focus of each release, as well as luxurious staples that transition through the seasons.

Together, Warwick’s brands present a multitude of options and solutions for any project that their clients are working on…

Australian Made

In the last twelve months, Warwick have seen a unprecedent desire and drive to support the local Australian industry.

“Our worlds shrank -which forced time for us to stop, reflect and reassess all that is around us. It is not surprising from this pause that there has been comfort found in all things local. We have added to our Australian Made offer with Caraway, Esperance, Kiama and Jindabyne, which will launch at Decor + Design.”

Conversational Prints

Statement prints never really go out of style. However, Warwick have seen prints move to be more vintage inspired, rather than the realism/photographic trend that was popular a few seasons ago. From tropical botanical illustrations printed on velvet, seen in Warwick’s Zanzibar, to designs that nod to nostalgic feelings and archive libraries such as Aruba, which is launching soon and can be seen at Decor + Design. This pivot to conversational references and vintage palettes is all about making statements with feeling and sentiment.

Luxurious Texture

Boucle is still the texture of the moment, suiting the 70s aesthetic of lowline curved furniture designs. Linia’s Fabio and Weave’s Alberto will be complemented by the new Ovis fabric, under the Warwick brand, for those seeking to create a cocoon-like interior.

Relaxed elegance is seeing the timeless texture of Linen continue to trend in both upholstery and drapery use. Warwick’s Linesta range is so diverse – from full drapes that puddle for an opulent feeling to casual crumpled linen cushions as part of the Weave Como offer, this European blend has been constructed with the best yarn and highest attention to detail.

Earthy Colours to Calm and Soften

Warwick’s colour palettes are driven by nature. Greens are muddy – mirroring tones of moss, khaki and olive shades. Yellows reflect ochres and, soft golds, and move into clay oranges, to a dusty musk. Seen in the new Weave release, which will launch at Decor + Design, Warwick’s colour stories are all linked to earthy hues drawn from nature and the outdoors.

Sustainable Practices Nurture the Future of Australian Design

Where possible, Warwick Fabrics reuse, repurpose and pay it forward. The company has programs in place that see the majority of their end of line stock recycled and repurposed. They also donate sample size pieces to aged care, schools and community-based programs. If anyone is interested in receiving regular updates on how they may be able to get fabric to repurpose they, should e-mail marketing@warwick.com.au who would love to help you out.

“We also offer our customers environmental choices. People’s idea of sustainable fabrics can alter from natural fibre, through to recycled content, to just making a long term considered choice. We make sure we have an option to meet your ethics,” says Cam Warwick.

We’re delighted that Warwick Fabrics will be exhibiting at the 18th edition of the Australian International Furniture Fair and Decor + Design at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, 15 – 18 July 2021. They will be showcasing not only their latest additions but also some of the industries trusted favourites.

“We aim to inspire, whether it be through colour, pattern or texture, with full drops of fabrics or, furniture pieces to excite or inspire new merchandising ideas. Our team will be on the ground and are excited to talk through any queries – large or small. The one thing we really missed in 2020 was interacting with customers (new and old) and we are excited to get the opportunity in July,” says Cam Warwick.

Entry to the exhibition is free but limited to trade visitors. Register now and start planning your trip to Melbourne!
